Starry Dragonet

Synchiropus stellatus

Marine Marine Indo-Pacific Usually captive bred

A mottled red-and-white benthic dragonet that hovers delicately across sand and live rock using modified fins. They have high nutritional demands and hunt live copepods constantly. Only place them into mature, large reef tanks containing extensive rockwork and an established refugium to prevent starvation.

7.5 cm adult length, drawn to scale. slim body.

Saltwater species. The planner judges it with a marine rule set. A reef or fish-only tank takes months to mature and costs more to run than freshwater. See the marine page.
