Red-Tailed Loach
Yasuhikotakia lecontei
Freshwater South-east Asia
A stout, silvery-grey bottom dweller crowned with vivid red-to-orange fins and subocular spines. They are notoriously feisty and can terrorise passive fish or nip flowing fins. Keeping them in a group of five or more helps disperse their aggressive hierarchical squabbles among themselves.
Also called: Red tailed loach, Silver botia, Silver loach.

Diet and tank layout
Red-Tailed Loach is an carnivore that swims in the lowest part of the tank. It is safe with plants. Give it plenty of cover. It digs, so anchor plants and keep hard rock off loose sand. It nips fins.
