Blue Acara
Andinoacara pulcher
Freshwater South America Usually captive bred
The blue acara is an iridescent South American cichlid dotted with electric blue scales and an orange dorsal fringe. Considerably more peaceful than many relatives, it forms tight pair bonds and defends flat spawning stones. Keep in medium communities with sturdy fish that will not fit into its mouth.
Also called: Blue acara, Blue coscarob.

Diet and tank layout
Blue Acara is an carnivore that swims in the middle of the tank. It leaves most plants alone. Give it plenty of cover. It digs, so anchor plants and keep hard rock off loose sand. It will eat fish small enough to swallow.
