Blue Flash Cichlid
Thorichthys aureus
Freshwater Central America Usually captive bred
A close relative of the firemouth boasting striking golden-yellow body hues and shimmering blue spangles across its flanks. They sift soft sandy substrate in search of morsels. Highly susceptible to poor water quality, they require meticulous maintenance and fine sand to maintain their gill and digestive health.
Also called: Blue flash, Golden acara, Golden cichlid, Golden firemouth cichlid.

Diet and tank layout
Blue Flash Cichlid is an omnivore that swims in the lowest part of the tank. It leaves most plants alone. Give it plenty of cover. It digs, so anchor plants and keep hard rock off loose sand.
