Tiger Loach
Syncrossus hymenophysa
Freshwater South-east Asia
A vividly patterned botine loach dressed in striking dark vertical tiger stripes edged with blue. Highly territorial and notoriously bad-tempered, it easily terrorises docile tankmates with relentless harassment. Must be kept in a group within a large river tank featuring fast water, sand, and robust companions.
Also called: Tiger loach, Banded loach, Zebra loach.

Diet and tank layout
Tiger Loach is an carnivore that swims in the lowest part of the tank. It is safe with plants. Give it plenty of cover. It digs, so anchor plants and keep hard rock off loose sand. It will eat fish small enough to swallow. It nips fins.
