Golden Skiffia
Skiffia francesae
Freshwater Central America Usually captive bred
A critically endangered Mexican livebearer that is practically extinct in the wild and sustained largely by dedicated hobbyists. It spends its day browsing algae and biofilm over rocks and vegetation. Provide hard, alkaline water with plenty of plant cover and vegetable-rich nutrition to ensure success.
Also called: Golden skiffia, Pastel goodeid, Tiro.

| Experience | Some experience helps | A guide to how forgiving the species is of mistakes. |
Tags marked estimated are judged from the size and habits of the species rather than measured, so treat them as a sensible default.
Diet and tank layout
Golden Skiffia is an herbivore that swims in the lowest part of the tank. It leaves most plants alone. Give it plenty of cover.
