A heavy-bodied cichlid famous for its hypertrophied rubbery lips used to seal against rocks and suck prey from crevices. Males display an impressive royal blue head over striking dark chevron bars. Needs hard, alkaline water, a deep rockwork setup, and large robust companions rather than frail community fish.
