African Butterflyfish
Pantodon buchholzi
Freshwater West and central Africa
A prehistoric-looking surface predator with wing-like pectoral fins that enable gliding over the water. It hunts falling insects and smaller fishes that cross its path. Keep only with calm, lower-swimming fishes, and secure the aquarium with a tight, weighted lid.
Also called: Freshwater butterflyfish, Butterflyfish, Butterfly fish.
