A robust dwarf cichlid where males gleam in metallic turquoise-green and females turn bright yellow with black checker-patterns when breeding. Peaceful generally, brooding females become fiercely defensive and will vigorously guard their brood against much larger fish. Provide ample caves and dense plant thickets.
