Flag Cichlid
Mesonauta festivus
Freshwater South America Usually captive bred
A graceful, laterally compressed cichlid marked with an oblique dark stripe running across its flanks. Exceptionally placid for a cichlid, it flourishes amongst driftwood branches and soft vegetation. Although peaceful, its mouth is surprisingly large, meaning tiny fish or small dwarf shrimp will be eaten.
Also called: Flag cichlid, Barred cichlid, Festive cichlid, Festivum.

Diet and tank layout
Flag Cichlid is an omnivore that swims in the middle of the tank. It is safe with plants. Give it plenty of cover. It will eat fish small enough to swallow.
