Apollo Shark
Luciosoma spilopleura
Freshwater South-east Asia Usually captive bred
A sleek, surface-dwelling Asian cyprinid built like a miniature pike with a striking black lateral stripe. Exceptional swimmers that cruise the upper water column, they are notorious jumpers prone to crashing into tank walls. They require a spacious, elongated tank with strong current, floating cover, and a tight hood.
Also called: Apollo shark, Apollo sharkminnow.
