Humpbacked Limia
Limia nigrofasciata
Freshwater Atlantic and Caribbean Usually captive bred
Endemic to Hispaniola, mature males develop a deep, pronounced humpbacked body, barred flanks, and an impressive fan-like dorsal fin. They are placid community livebearers that relish grazing on filamentous algae and necessitate hard, alkaline water conditions to maintain tip-top vitality.
Also called: Blackbarred limia, Humpbacked limia, Humpedbacked Limia.
