Stappersii Shell Dweller
Lamprologus stappersi
Freshwater Lake Tanganyika, Africa Usually captive bred
Also known as Lamprologus ocellatus, this diminutive Tanganyikan cichlid has iridescent body tones and feisty personality. They require hard, alkaline water and an abundance of empty snail shells over fine sand, which they vigorously rearrange and defend against any intruder.

Diet and tank layout
Stappersii Shell Dweller is an carnivore that swims in the lowest part of the tank. It is safe with plants. Give it plenty of cover. It digs, so anchor plants and keep hard rock off loose sand.
