Twig Catfish
Farlowella acus
Freshwater South America
An astonishingly camouflaged, needle-slender loricariid resembling a sunken woody stick as it rests upon plant stems or driftwood. It is extremely peaceful and delicate, easily outcompeted for food by faster fish. Pristine, highly oxygenated water and plentiful natural aufwuchs, supplemented by blanched vegetable matter, are vital to its survival.
Also called: Whiptail catfish, Twig catfish.
