Bucktooth Tetra
Exodon paradoxus
Freshwater South America
A strikingly marked, hyperactive tetra famous for its voracious appetite and unusual habit of stripping scales from other fish. Bucktooth tetras are utterly unsuitable for ordinary community aquaria. They must be maintained in a large, dedicated single-species shoal to disperse relentless aggression and prevent fatal infighting.
Also called: Bucktooth tetra, Bucktoothed tetra.
