Reedfish
Erpetoichthys calabaricus
Freshwater West and central Africa
An ancient, serpentine bichir relative capable of breathing atmospheric air. Docile and social, they enjoy resting in tangles together. Keepers must install a completely escape-proof lid, as they can slip through the tiniest openings and perish on the floor, and avoid any tankmates small enough to swallow.
Also called: Reed, Ropefish, Sailfin.
