Six-Barred Panchax
Epiplatys sexfasciatus
Freshwater West and central Africa Usually captive bred
A striking surface-dwelling non-annual killifish marked by bold dark vertical bars and glittering yellow scales. It lurks among floating vegetation waiting to snap up insects. Tankmates must be large enough to avoid being swallowed whole, and tanks must possess absolutely escape-proof covers.
Also called: Sixbar panchax, Six-barred epiplatys, Toothed carp.
