Onespot Betta
Betta unimaculata
Freshwater South-east Asia Usually captive bred
A large, sleek wild betta native to Borneo featuring iridescent turquoise scales and a dark caudal spot. Unlike domesticated fighting fish, it is a paternal mouthbrooder adapted to flowing streams. They are extraordinary jumpers requiring a weighted, airtight aquarium lid with virtually no gaps.
Also called: Howong betta, Onespot betta.
