Emerald Betta
Betta smaragdina
Freshwater South-east Asia Usually captive bred
A stunning wild fighting fish covered in brilliant emerald-green iridescent scales. Considerably less bellicose than the domesticated Betta splendens, pairs or small harems can often cohabit in well-planted aquaria. Provide soft acidic water, low current, and a secure lid to prevent these adept jumpers from escaping.
Also called: Blue betta, Emerald green betta, Peaceful betta.
