Malayan Betta
Betta pugnax
Freshwater South-east Asia
A robust, paternal mouthbrooding fighting fish found in shallow forest hill streams. Far more peaceful than domestic bettas, pairs can live happily together in well-planted setups. A tight-fitting lid is essential as they are capable and persistent jumpers.
Also called: Forest betta, Malayan betta, Penang betta.
