Peaceful Betta
Betta imbellis
Freshwater South-east Asia Usually captive bred
A wild-type betta boasting shimmering emerald scales and striking crimson highlights on the fins. Unlike its aggressive domesticated cousin, pairs or small groups can coexist peacefully in spacious, heavily vegetated tanks. They are adept jumpers requiring still water, warm air above the waterline, and a tight lid.
Also called: Crescent betta, Peaceful betta.
