Red-Tailed Tinfoil Barb
Barbonymus altus
Freshwater South-east Asia Usually captive bred
A deep-bodied, glistening silver schooling barb identified by red fins lacking dark black margins. Extremely active and boisterous, it rapidly outgrows modest aquariums. It devours nearly all living aquarium plants, so house it in spacious setups decorated with smooth stones and robust driftwood.

Diet and tank layout
Red-Tailed Tinfoil Barb is an omnivore that swims in the middle of the tank. It eats or uproots plants, so choose hard-leaved species or none. It will eat fish small enough to swallow.
