A seasonal killifish with males displaying gorgeous iridescent bluish speckles across a dark body. In nature they inhabit seasonal pools, leaving behind drought-resistant eggs before passing away. Keep them in unheated aquaria with peat or deep sand for spawning.

Diet and tank layout
Argentine Pearlfish is an carnivore that swims in the lowest part of the tank. It is safe with plants. Give it plenty of cover. It digs, so anchor plants and keep hard rock off loose sand.
