Green Face Peacock Cichlid
Aulonocara saulosi
Freshwater Lake Malawi, Africa Usually captive bred
The Green Face Peacock is an exquisite Lake Malawi cichlid where males develop iridescent blue and metallic greenish highlights over their facial region. Less belligerent than typical Mbuna, it requires fine sandy substrate to sift for invertebrate food and should not be housed with rough, hyper-aggressive tankmates.
Also called: Aulonocara metallic green, Aulonocara special, Greenface aulonocara.

Diet and tank layout
Green Face Peacock Cichlid is an carnivore that swims in the lowest part of the tank. It leaves most plants alone. Give it plenty of cover. It digs, so anchor plants and keep hard rock off loose sand. It will eat fish small enough to swallow.
