Butterfly Goodeid
Ameca splendens
Freshwater Central America Usually captive bred
Males of this endangered livebearer possess a gleaming yellow band along the tail margin and sparkling scales. They are boisterous grazers with a penchant for nipping delicate fins, making fast-swimming tank mates best. Provide cooler, well-oxygenated water with plenty of vegetable matter in their diet.
Also called: Butterfly splitfin, Goodeid.
