Marbled Headstander
Abramites hypselonotus
Freshwater South America
A distinctive characin that characteristically swims in an oblique, head-down posture while grazing surfaces. It has striking dark brown marbling across a golden body. Keepers should avoid live plants, as it rapidly decimates greenery, and it may nip long fins of slow tankmates.
Also called: Headstander, Highbacked headstander, High-backed headstander.

Diet and tank layout
Marbled Headstander is an herbivore that swims in all levels of the tank. It eats or uproots plants, so choose hard-leaved species or none. Give it some cover. It nips fins.
