1. Make sure to always keep your aquarium level when placing it. If your aquarium is uneven, the weight of the water can press against the seems and this can cause major problems in your aquarium.
2. When adding plants to the aquarium, be sure to check the lighting needs. Try to find plants that will fit the pre-existing lighting conditions of your aquarium. You should avoid plants that require much more light than the fish in your aquarium.
3. It is not a good idea to wash your filter media with regular tap water. The tap water can kill the beneficial bacteria that is built up in the filter. Use distilled water to clean out your filter and its components.
