Aquarium Related Tips

1. If you use your tap water, you should make sure to remove the chlorine from the water before you add it to the aquarium. Chlorine can be very harmful to some of the fish in your aquarium. You can purchase kits to remove the chlorine from your aquarium at many retailers online.

2. Make sure that the bottom of your aquarium is fully supported by your aquarium stand. If you have any gaps in the structural integrity of your aquarium, it is much more prone to breaks and leaks.

3. Try to provide an environment that is as stable as possible, fluctuations in the aquarium can have a negative impact on the aquarium. Try to keep the temperature and PH levels fairly balanced in your aquarium.

Swale's Swissguard Basslet

$15.00

(lipropoma swalesi)
Saltwater

Also known as a Pacific Candy Basslet, it should not be confused with the Swissguard Basslet. This fish has an elongated body with orange and purple horizontal stripes running from the nose to the end of the tail. On the dorsal fins and the caudal fin are black spots, encircled in purple. On the caudal fin the two spots are connected by a black bar. The Swissguard has different colors on its body. This is a rare aquarium fish.

Size: 1" to 2"; can get as large as 3."
Tank: min. 30 gallon
Temperament: Peaceful
Food: (Carnivore) Preferring zoo-plankton, it will also eat mysid shrimp, squid, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, finely chopped fresh and frozen marine fish and carnivore preparations. Feed twice a day.
Light: None, this is a deep-water fish, unaccustomed to bright light.
Adaptability: Adapts well with plenty of live rock. Needs caves to hide in. This fish will often swim at the bottom of the tank.
Compatibility: Ideal for reef systems. They can be a threat to smaller fish and crustaceans; harassing and possibly feeding on the smallest fish and shrimp.
