1. Keep plenty of testing kits on hand, if you own a saltwater aquarium you should mainly focus on nitrates, PH, salinity, and phosphate levels. Never be caught off guard, make sure you have plenty of kits available to test the levels.
2. After establishing your aquarium, pick fish that will add well to the current water conditions in your aquarium. Also be sure to check their temperament and other needs to be sure that they will make the transition in your aquarium smoothly.
3. Research the aquarium equipment you are looking at before you purchase it. Different sizes of aquariums require different pumps and heaters. Find out which products are best for your aquarium before you start ordering the wrong products.
