Aquarium Related Tips

1. In larger aquariums, you should put a few scavenger fish in the tank. Scavenger fish will help to clean up left behind food and wastes from the other fish in the aquarium. This is a good eco friendly way to keep your aquarium clean.

2. Make sure you ask plenty of questions when you are buying accessories or fish for your aquarium. The salespeople are there to help you, and should be able to handle any concerns you have when buying items for your aquarium.

3. Goldfish require a PH level of around 7.5 to live comfortably. Use PH testing strips to ensure that the levels in your aquarium are just right.

Pearlscale Butterflyfish

$32.50

(chaetodon xanthurus)
Saltwater

Known also as a Yellow-Tail, a Crowned and a Philippine Chevron Butterflyfish, it is native to the Western Pacific. This fish has a white, pearly body with black scale margins aligned to look criss-crossed. There is a yellow band with black outlining across the eyes and a light yellow-orange tail with an orange band on the end. A "cousin" from the Red Sea (chaetodon paucifasciatus) has a red tail. Can be used to clean a tank of pesky glass anemones.

Size: 2" to 3"
No. in Tank: one or more (introduced together)
Tank: min. 60 gallon
Temperament: Peaceful
Food: (Carnivore) Need a varied diet including marine fish, crustacean flesh, mysid shrimp and frozen preparations. Feed several times a day.
Light: High
Adaptation: Needs plenty of hiding places and room to swim. A well-maintained tank is very important for both acclimation and life long health, as are live rocks.
Compatibility: Not reef safe as they will pick at coral polyps, fanworms and feather dusters. Requires peaceful tank-mates because this fish is an easy target for bolder fish. It will clean pesky glass anemones from the tank and other tanks. If used in another tank, it must be removed once all the glass anemones are gone so they do not begin to eat wanted creatures,
