The Palmas Bichir is a fish that originates like most other Bichirs from Africa. The Palmas Bichir should be kept in a larger sized tank of at least 55 gallons. The Palmas Bichir needs this extra space because this fish is a very active species and grows to around 13‚Δω in length. The Palmas Bichir is very adaptive and can survive in many different water settings. You should not however, keep your Palmas Bichir in an aquarium with gravel substrate as the Palmas Bichir is a clumsy eater and has the possibility of swallowing gravel while eating and this can lead to the fish choking. The Palmas Bichir should not be kept with smaller fish as it is a predatory fish and will eat any fish that it can fit into its mouth.
