Aquarium Related Tips

1. Make sure to keep a log on hand to update any changes in the aquarium. This will help you keep track of changes in your aquarium much more easily. Keep your aquarium log in a place where you wonít forget it.

2. Cichlids tend to be very intelligent fish. You should do your best to interact with them as some species will respond positively to you arriving home. These fish are very active and if you interact with them, they can develop much better.

3. Make sure that the bottom of your aquarium is fully supported by your aquarium stand. If you have any gaps in the structural integrity of your aquarium, it is much more prone to breaks and leaks.

Orbic Cardinalfish

$12.50

(sphaeramia nematoptera)
Saltwater

Known also as a Spotted Cardinalfish and Polka Dot Cardinalfish, it is native to the Indo-Pacific region including the Red Sea. This silver bodied fish has jet black scale margins on its midsection and orange polka dots on its posterior section. It has a greenish-yellow face and a gorgeous bright purple tail. A good fish for either deep or shallow aquariums, that likes to live in schools. The largest fish is the most dominant and a peeking order continues down to the last fish. While this is a strict hierarchy, there is no aggression inside the group. A good beginner fish.

Size: sm. 3/4"-1 1/2"; med. 1"-2"; lg. 1 1/2"- 2 1/2"
No. in Tank: Does best in groups of at least five.
Tank: min. 30 gallon
Temperament: Peaceful
Food: (Carnivore) Needs a well-balanced diet of meaty foods such as feeder shrimp, flaked and pellet foods, marine flesh and bloodworms. If large enough to handle it, a live feeder fish is good.
Light: Medium
Adaptation: This fish does well in any aquarium, deep or shallow. It is a hardy fish. Does need caves in which to hide. Also likes to hide (in the wild), in sea grass, other plants and long-spined urchins.
Compatibility: Needs peaceful tank-mates. Is an excellent reef system fish; no threat to ornamental crustaceans and other fish.

**GOOD BEGINNER FISH
