The Odessa Barb is a freshwater species that is native to South East Asia, from the region with the Himalayas all the way to Thailand. The natural habitat for the Odessa Barb is of still water and shallow water, the bottom of their natural habitat is generally muddy as the Odessa barb likes to browse in the substrate. The Odessa Barb generally grows to around 5 to 7.5 centimeters, and there are no noticeable size differences between the male and the female Odessa Barb. The Odessa Barb has a light brown color and they are generally decorated on the side with black spots. In sexually mature males, they show a red band that runs down the side of their body and when mating the color is a lot more vibrant.
