The Shovel Nosed Catfish is native to the waters of the Amazon. It is built with a very slender, long body and is colored with a dark half top and a creamy white bottom. The Shoveled Nosed Catfish is a very quick fish and with its large size makes this fish only suited for very large aquariums. The Shoveled Nosed Catfish will spend most of its time during the day hiding in plant life, and you should provide tall plants in any aquarium where you hope to keep Shovel Nosed Catfish. You should keep this catfish in a high water flow environment to mimic its natural habitat. The Shoveled Nosed catfish can eat the smaller inhabitants of your aquarium, so it is best to keep this fish with larger sized aquarium mates so you do not run into this problem.
