1. Make sure to keep a log on hand to update any changes in the aquarium. This will help you keep track of changes in your aquarium much more easily. Keep your aquarium log in a place where you wonít forget it.

2. If you use your tap water, you should make sure to remove the chlorine from the water before you add it to the aquarium. Chlorine can be very harmful to some of the fish in your aquarium. You can purchase kits to remove the chlorine from your aquarium at many retailers online.

3. You should never used any alcohol to clean the inside of your aquarium. Alcohol can pose health problems for the fish in your aquarium.

Lantern Basslet

$12.99

(serranus baldwini)
Saltwater

This basslet is considered a dwarf due to its smaller than usual size (for a basslet). Native to the warm waters of the Caribbean. The body is a cream color and has brown bands on its back and orange bands on its stomach. The eyes are also banded in orange. This fish is also known as a Baldwin's Basslet and a Lantern Bass. It is a very hardy fish and disease resistant.

Size: 3/4" to 2"; can get to a maximum of 3"
No. in Tank: Only one; unless they are small fish and in a large tank, added together.
Tank: min. 30 gallon, with 2 fish, min.100 gallon.
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Food: (Carnivore) Eats mainly zoo-plankton. Needs a varied diet of mysid shrimp, vitamin-enriched brine shrimp, and meaty treats. Feed once a day.
Light: None.
Adaptability:They adjust well with lots of hiding places and with other semi-aggressive fish. These fish like to rest on the bottom of the aquarium while they wait for food.
Compatibility: Ideal for reef systems, even in small tanks. Needs to have semi-aggressive tank-mates as they will attack peaceful fish. Best kept as a singular Lantern but can add one more. Both fish must be small in size and added to the tank together. If one becomes aggressive or harasses the other, it must be removed.
