(Helostomatidae) Kissing Gourami Pink Kisser
The Kissing Gourami is naturally named by its kissing action. Everyone loves to get this fish because of this, but actually it is called Kissing Gourami because of the unusual shape of its mouth when sucking debris or eating. It comes in two colors , the wild version is grayish-green with horizonal stripes or pink to orangish pink with transparent fins and they both have a flat elongated body. The one that is easiest to get is the pink one because it is a mutation that was propagated in captivity.
The Kissing Gourami gets quite large so you should think about putting it in a large tank. It can grow up to 5-6 inches. You should put them with larger fish as they tend to become bullies with smaller fish.
They are found in slow moving waters and marshes in the Far East; Indonesia, Thailand, Cambodia and Malay Peninsula and are used as food in their native countries. They are omnivores and will eat all kinds of live, flesh, and flake foods.
They are not bubble nest builders. Their eggs float to the top once they have spawned.
The temperature of the tank should be between 72-82 degrees.
