Aquarium Related Tips

1. Make any adjustments to the placement of the decorations in your aquarium before you fill up the aquarium all the way. Not doing this can cause an overflow when you reach into the tank.

2. You should always take the time to acclimate your fish to the aquarium. Acclimating your fish will get them used to the environment of the aquarium. Adding fish directly can be too much a shock for your fish and can pose health hazards.

3. You should feed your fish a variety of food and not just flake foods. Mix it up with fresher foods from their regular diet. Giving them more a varied diet will increase the general health of your fish.

Imperator Angelfish

(pomacanthus imperator)
Saltwater

Native to the Pacific Ocean and Red Sea, this is a marvelously marked fish. The juvenile has a dark blue body with alternating white and blue circles beginning at the tail. As an adult the striping becomes horizontal and bright yellow with a yellowish-orange caudal fin. More striking is the dark blue mask cover the eyes and the white mouth.

Size: 1 1/2" to 3"; up to 15"
Tank: min. 55 gallon
Temperament: Semi-Aggressive
Food: (Omnivore) needs a sponge based diet and lots of algae; a vitamin supplement and color enhancing foods are recommended to keep the colors vibrant and help the juvenile completely transform into his adult coloration.
Light: High
Adaptation: need a lot of room to swim, many hiding places and live rock to graze. Do not keep juveniles together that have similar coloration.
Compatibility: caution with reef as they tend to nip on stony and soft coral and clam mantle.
