1. If you have a protein skimmer you should shut it off when you are adding medicine to your aquarium. The protein skimmer will remove any medicines added to the aquarium.

2. You should take out any carbon filters in the aquarium when you are medicating your fish. The carbon in the filter will remove the medicine from the water, so it is best to remove it all together.

3. Goldfish can live incredibly long periods of up to 25 years. You should plan accordingly when you purchase a goldfish.

Firemouth Cichlid

$6.05

The Firemouth Cichlid is a Cichlid from the Americas and is a great starter fish for a beginning aquarium enthusiast. They are very hardy and can adapt to a wide range of water conditions, for this fact they make great starter pets. The Firemouth Cichlid is not a picky eater and will eat live, flake, and frozen foods all the same. The Firemouth Cichlid grows to around 6 to 7 inches and has a lifespan of around 8 years. These fish are normally peaceful but can become aggressive when paring up to mate. You should put the Firemouth Cichlid in a tank with plenty of rock and plant cover to provide them with ample places to hide.
