Doctor Fish get their name from the way they are used these days for spa treatments for the skin. Doctor Fish are originally from the waters of Jordan, and the Tigris-Euphrates river basins. Doctor fish can grow up to 5 inches at full length and should be kept in an aquarium of at least 50-60 gallons with many more of their own kind. Doctor fish are not popular pet fish and are most often purchased by those in the spa treatment business to use for skin treatment procedures.
