Aquarium Related Tips

1. If you have a protein skimmer you should shut it off when you are adding medicine to your aquarium. The protein skimmer will remove any medicines added to the aquarium.

2. Cloudy water is normally a sign of overfeeding your aquarium. Judge the right amount of food to place in the aquarium to not leave too much residue due to overfeeding.

3. Make sure you ask plenty of questions when you are buying accessories or fish for your aquarium. The salespeople are there to help you, and should be able to handle any concerns you have when buying items for your aquarium.

Also known as the Hog-nosed Brochis, Brochis Catfish, or Cory Brochis, the Brochis Cory Cat comes from the regions of South America in the Amazon River basin. It inhabits waters with high vegetation and neutral pH levels.

A minimum of a 30-gallon tank, highly planted, with plenty of driftwood will help mirror the natural habitat of this catfish. Keep pH close to neutral, with good filtration to ensure proper health and lack of stress.

In an aquarium, females will collect the eggs in a pelvic fin basket and deposit them individually on plants, rocks, driftwood, and other objects. Pairs have been known to produce 900-1100 eggs.

This is a bottom feeding fish that will help keep the left over food that falls to the bottom of the tank under control. If the tank is clean and there is a lack of bottom debris, blood worms, flake food, or sinking carnivore pellets should be fed. It is healthy for the fish to have a variety of different types of food.
