1. When you purchase your aquarium and the equipment for your setup, do not purchase the fish at the same time. You are going to need plenty of time to cycle the water in the aquarium to make it hospitable for the fish in your aquarium.
2. In larger aquariums, you should put a few scavenger fish in the tank. Scavenger fish will help to clean up left behind food and wastes from the other fish in the aquarium. This is a good eco friendly way to keep your aquarium clean.
3. It is not advisable to leave your aquarium lights on at all times for the aquarium. You should keep the lights on for 8-12 hour periods at a time. If you want to keep the tank lights on when you arrive home, simply get a timer for the lights so your fish stay on a schedule.
I would like to take the time, and tell you that when we received our aquarium I was really impressed by the quality of the seams. My husband and I have been looking for something to dress up the house with and now that we have it set up, it is THE center piece of the home. All our friends just keep commenting on how beautiful it is. You have our business for life. Thank you so much!!!
