Aquarium Related Tips

1. It is not a good idea to wash your filter media with regular tap water. The tap water can kill the beneficial bacteria that is built up in the filter. Use distilled water to clean out your filter and its components.

2. Goldfish require a PH level of around 7.5 to live comfortably. Use PH testing strips to ensure that the levels in your aquarium are just right.

3. It is generally a good practice to purchase the largest aquarium that you can actually afford. A larger aquarium will be less susceptible to quick changes in the chemistry, and will offer much more stability.

Most aquariums consist of glass panels sealed together by silicone, with plastic frames. However glass is very brittle, and does not have the strength that acrylic has.
